EUPHORBIA


Euphorbia L. Herbs to shrubs or succulents, small trees, prostrate or decumbent, all produce a mostly white latex which they exude when cut, and this sap is often toxic, characterized by the unique pseudanthium of much-reduced flowers (cyathium); recently all cyathia-bearing species were united into one single genus; thus, this feature is present in every species of the genus but nowhere else in the Plant Kingdom. 2,046 spp. (5th largest worldwide), fully cosmopolitan; succulent spurges are most diverse in southern and E Africa and Madagascar, but they also occur in tropical Asia and the Americas; 491 in New World, 246 spp. in Mexico (129 endemics), 182 in South America, 68 in Brazil (40 endemics). 4 subgenera and 64 section, three subgenera in New World (59 section joined) and South America (12 sections within).

The most morphological diverse genus of angiosperms in Brazil, and the 6ª largest group of succulent species worldwide, with c. 650 spp. E. laevigata Lam. (endemic to Brazil) unplaced. 64 lineages.

 sect. Anthacanthae ‣ 87 spp. found in southern Africa to very sparsely distributed over the rest of sub-Saharan Africa; bare, dry, stony plains with little other vegetation to deep Kalahari sand among scattered clumps of grass and trees to among fynbos vegetation, from sea level to 2700 m.

 sect. Antso ‣ only one sp., E. antso Denis., from W and SW Madagascar (Toliara Region), in semiarid, deciduous forests and scrub, often on soils derived from limestone, from sea level to 500 m.

 sect. Tirucalli ‣ 25 spp., widespread and most diverse in Madagascar, also native in Arabian Peninsula (Oman and Yemen, including Socotra) and Africa (Angola, Namibia, Somalia, and South Africa). E. tirucalli L. is widespread across Africa, but it is not clear where the species is native (probably Madagascar and southern Africa). It is widely cultivated in India and in other tropical countries.

ICEBERG DO BRASIL

Este é um texto fictício baseado em elementos e realidades que o Brasil não possui.

O Brasil é uma potência nuclear, detendo armas atômicas desde 1976, desenvolvidas em um programa secreto instalado na Serra do Cachimbo, no sul do Pará.

Com a reforma territorial de 2025, quatro novos estados foram criados e dois expandidos. Roraima foi expandido para incluir terras montanhosas do norte do Amazonas, perdendo, porém, uma faixa equivalente para o próprio Amazonas, que também se ampliou, incorporando municípios do Acre, Rondônia, Mato Grosso e Pará, tornando-se assim maior que o Alasca. O Triângulo Mineiro foi anexado a Goiás, enquanto vinte municípios do Ceará formaram o novo Estado do Kariri (com 'K'), o único enclave estadual do Brasil. Partes do nordeste do Maranhão e do noroeste do Ceará foram unificadas para criar o Estado de Riviera Meio Norte, único estado disjunto do território nacional. O Distrito Federal foi transformado em estado e expandido para incluir diversas cidades de Goiás, passando a chamar-se apenas Planalto. A cidade do Rio de Janeiro foi elevada ao status de Estado, sendo a única cidade-estado do Brasil, e o restante do antigo estado foi renomeado como Guanabara. Por fim, Fernando de Noronha foi elevado à categoria de município — incorporando o Atol das Rocas e os Penedos de São Pedro e São Paulo, enquanto Trindade e Martim Vaz foram rebaixados à condição de Território Federal.

Em 2026, a cronologia geológica foi revisada, e o Jurássico foi dividido, dando origem ao novo período Paranássico, em referência ao estado do Paraná e aos seus extensos derrames basálticos. No mesmo ano, o WRB oficializou a 33ª categoria de solo, o Xingussolo — um tipo antropogênico, modificado por antigas civilizações amazônicas, incluindo as famosas terras pretas da Amazônia.

Ainda em 2027, uma antiga controvérsia científica foi resolvida: reconheceu-se que o elemento Gadolínio havia sido descoberto, na verdade, em 1851, em um laboratório do Rio de Janeiro, pelo químico Ulysses de Gamme Hiaff, que o batizara de Diamantânio, em homenagem aos diamantes de Minas Gerais.

Por fim, em 2028, o Brasil inaugurou sua primeira base militar no exterior — a Base Duque de Caxias, localizada em Luambo, Angola, consolidando sua presença internacional e sua influência no Atlântico Sul.
